Scientists have [ found more coral reefs in the Gulf of Mexico that have been badly damaged ]( http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2014/07/29/3465261/bp-oil-spill-coral-reefs/ ) by the Big Spill. They say that not all reefs in the area were harmed. It makes sense that the oil was carried by currents in certain directions and others were spared. It makes for a good comparison.
