Ukraine has lots of natural gas that could make it an [ ideal target for fracking ]( http://www.commondreams.org/views/2014/09/04/whys-behind-ukraine-crisis ) , especially if it is in debt to the IMF and can't resist. The article erects a large superstructure of theories which I think are strained and not convincing.
