New York City is building a [ 10-mile-long seawall/recreation-area ]( http://www.theverge.com/2014/10/1/6874925/can-a-massive-seawall-save-new-york-from-flooding ) to prevent flooding for a few decades. If we don't stop pumping CO2 into the air, no seawall will protect New York City.
